I feel like I always seem to give DS who’s 17 months calpol! Well I guess I go through phases! So he’s had about 2 doses a day now for over a week for major teething! Before that he had a temp for a few days... before that was teething... before that he had a viral infection!! Is this bad? The my almost 4 year old has probably only had one dose in 2 years... have I forgotten that they have way more when younger?

Ibuprofen is better for teething and anbesol liquid is good too.

I know what you mean. I feel like I’m drugging the baby and my 4 year old very rarely has medicine.

Defo second the nurofen being better for teeth , but yes I’ve gone through phases like this too when the cutlery drawer has more syringes in it than knives and forks 🤣

Ibruprofen would be better for teething pain tbh. But yes, also had shares at a point but thankfully past it!

Hahaha yes I know what you mean about the cutlery drawer!!

Yes we did use to give nurofen for teething as well but then at the beginning of covid I read an article that it could possibly make the symptoms worse so I stopped buying it!

He just seems to be going through a mad week of teething now, he never slept well before this but this week has been horrific!! Maybe time for the nurofen to come back!!

Yes yes yes to the cutlery drawer full of syringes. 14mo DD is getting back molars (and has been for about 900 years, it seems) and it's the only thing that settles her. Last night she slept in 3-minute bursts until we redosed her.

Every now and then in teething times I try to resist giving it, but it's awful for her and then I think, I wouldn't withhold pain medication from me, why would I from her?

Deffo went through this too! There were months mu DD rarely went to bed without calpol! Particularly through winter. Teeth, temperature, illness .. if it helps, she’s 3 now & I think has had one dose of calpol in the last 7/8 months! Bottle is going dusty!

We're on to the Calpol 6+. At 9+10 y.o their dose is 10mls a dose and we fly through it.

I gave it loads through teething. It was all that settled my kids! But now all teeth are in I rarely give it unless they are ill.
I just think if I had toothache, I'd want pain relief so why shouldn't they have it? It's not forever

Thank you!

Yes I take paracetamol for minor aches too! Will keep giving and hope the need for it will stop soon.!!
