How to/when to remove milk from bedtime routine???

DS1 will be 2 in August

I’ve tried changing over to a cup/toddler beaker for his morning milk, with the view to do the same for bedtime once he’d accepted that. But he’s flat out refusing it.

He’s still having a good 9oz at bedtime (followed by teeth brushing)

My concerns about removing it are:

  • night waking if he’s hungry. Currently sleeps through
  • disrupting bedtime routine which currently is a bit all over the place. He’s teething so we’re having some episodes of crying when going to sleep
  • he’s about to move to a single bed as DS2 needs the cot, is this all too much change

But I’m concerned about crooked teeth etc

At the moment my current plan is to start offering bottle downstairs, gradually reducing the amount in the bottle. Replacing this with a small pre-bedtime snack. Maybe weetabix. Then change to a bed when he’s 2, then moving DS2 into the cot a month later so he’s forgotten

I’m hoping this delay between each stage helps the transition so he sort of forgets about the previous

Does that seem like the right thing to do?

He is still so young! I wouldn't worry about it!

DD is 4 and still has milk before bed!

I’d read it should be out of a cup though? And currently he’s rejecting all of the different beakers/cups I have for him. He’s only interested in having it from a normal bottle
