Is this normal? DS using back of hand

DS is almost 5 months, and he often uses the back of his hand on the floor instead of using his palms. He therefore struggles to push himself up or roll and gets frustrated about not being able to move, but is putting his full weight with his hands flexed under him. If we place his palms flat on the floor then he can push but can’t seem to get into that position himself. Just wondered if anyone else found their babies did this or if I should be concerned

I wouldn't worry at the moment, hes still super young and learning how his body works. Mention it to your HV so it is on their radar if you like. Just keep on letting him explore moving his limbs through play on the floor and in the bath etc. It'll click one day.

Thanks @SnowdropFox. It def one of those things if I was having HV visits I would mention, but they went out the window once Corona struck. I don't think/am hoping its not serious enough to call up about since I am sure they have plenty of other things to worry about, but will def keep an eye out

Ah that's a shame, I know some people are having virtual or telephone catch ups.
Honestly, I'd just call for a catch up yourself. Leave a message and theyll get back to you when they can. No pressure that way.
