When people say you look too young

Out with my 2 boys today age 2&4, a lady passing by stopped to ask me if they were both my kids, when I said yes she said, you look very young... I'm 27 so not as if I'm 18Confused I find it really rude when people say this but is it meant as a compliment or?

It definitely means but you don’t look haggard.

Same, just had my first child. At the hospital many seemed to think i was 'so young'.. I'm 30! hardly super young to have first child.

Also the postman asked if my Mum was at home recently to sign for something.

I think it depends on how they say it and who it is, but it is odd.

I'm 32 and about 6 months ago I got told I looked "too young" to have a baby (he was about 9 months at the time) by a man aged 50/60s in the street. We live in baby central in SW London. I was taken back and said "I am over 30 y'know..." and he just replied with "well you don't look it, you look too young to have your own child" and walked off. I don't look really young and he was clearly a newish baby, but c'est la vie. Take it as a complement and get on with life.

i had my first baby at 15 so for years people asked me if i was looking after my little brother. i’m now 28 and have 4 kids and have had the ‘look too young’ comments a few times. i just laugh and get on with it. it isn’t a big deal in the scheme of things.

Enjoy it while it lasts, OP. A friend of mine was asked by a woman if she were the granny of her little boy. When she said no, she was the mum, the woman smirked and said ' yes of course you are' as if my friend were lying about it.
