From basket to cot

Please help. I'm trying to get my daughter into her cot in her own room. She's too long for the basket. I'm sat at the side of the cot with her inside ready to cry. I've been in here at least an hour. No sign of her giving in at all. She's so tired and irritable but will not give in. What am I doing wrong ?

When mine were getting too big for the basket, I put the basket with baby in it) inside the cot, as a sort of 'halfway house' - so they were still in their usual place, but also in the different room and with the bars on the cot in their vision.

@BackforGood thank you. How long did you do that for? Did you just take the basket away after a little while

I can't remember how long for (my dc are adults now) but I think it was two or three nights??
Hopefully someone who has done this whole baby malarkey more recently than me will be along soon Smile
But yes, We just put them in the cot without the basket after a fairly short time.

You could make it cosier by rolling a towel into a sausage and putting under the fitted sheet in a horse shoe shape around the baby. Gradually move the towel out a bit until it eventually hits the sides of the cot. It's an old trick but it does work.

My baby slept like this for a good couple of months before she learned to roll from back to front.
