Need to buy Size 2 reusables - advice please on what to buy

DD is now 6 months old and is bursting out of her Size 1 nappies but I'm not sure what to replace them with. I have been using Fluffles and Bamboozles. I love the softness and the slim cut of the Bamboozles but they do take an eternity to dry and I'm not keen to tumble dry them all the time. I like the quick drying time of the Fluffles but the fleece has gone very bobbly and they are quite bulky. So, what to do? I am open to trying something completely different but I don't know what's out there (used the Nappy Lady for my original purchase) so some recommendations would be great.

Also, my Bamboozles, in particular, are in good condition and I wondered if there's much of a resale market for them and if so, where could I try and sell them now given that they can't be listed on Ebay?

Check the small business ads on here. I know Flame gives good impartial advice, and nappyzone(I think) also has a site selling reusables and giving advice. I thik they both have small ad sections as well. I have sold nappies on the Nappy lady classified section before, too.

Hi Kikidee,

Have you tried www.ethicalbabe.com? They stock modern baby cloth nappies, which have received several awards. I used them on my eldest and now my 3 month old, and I have to say they are really very good. If you are in any doubt give them a ring, they are a UK based website shop and really very helpful.

I am bias of course, because my friend runs the company.....(ssssh)

The Bambinex teddy is microfibre so dries really quickly (I love it!) but it can look bulky.

Personally I like Flame's tie dye wambamboos tho being bamboo they take a while to dry.

Can't really beat my ME Sandy's for reliability.

Like my Quick Flip Lite (with booster) for night-time.

Oh if you like the softness of the Fluffle try the new Bambinex Teddy nappy, soft, fluffy, quick drying and cheaper and slimmer than Fluffles

curlywurlycremeegg · 25/09/2007 21:00

X post norma

I do love Sandy's though and the new Bamboo one is slimmer than a Bamboozle so should be quicker to dry, not tried it out yet

nappynuttynormabutty · 25/09/2007 21:01

Oooh bamboo Sandy's...don't tempt me!!!

curlywurlycremeegg · 25/09/2007 21:03

Oh you are so easy to tempt, just a whiff of fluffyness and no one can stop you

Flamesparrow · 25/09/2007 23:53

I like my tie dye too bamboo too (Got tie dye QFLs as well )

I'm loving how fluffity all my bamboo is coming up since I started using the soapnuts.

curlywurlycremeegg · 26/09/2007 07:38

Do they make all your nappies much softer? total change of dirction for thread

Flamesparrow · 26/09/2007 07:44

I'm finding they do, yes - I have never found vinegar has that much effect, but where there is no residue at all, the fibres stay as they should be and don't go anywhere near as crunchy (especially line dried they go looooooovely).

I have always been one for conditioner with clothes (not nappies), and I'm not even using that now.

littlekiwibaby · 26/09/2007 17:01

do soap nuts actually work then and do you think they'd work even in the crusty hard water of Darkest Cambridgeshire

and you must try to be convincing, I', a professional ariel bio user

Flamesparrow · 26/09/2007 18:24

I looooooooooooooove them - but they won't get your whites as white as ariel. I tend to use em for my nappies and coloureds, and 50% of my whites washes, the other 50% I do with powder to give them nice chemical brightening goodness.

littlekiwibaby · 26/09/2007 19:06

I may have to give them a go. D'you reckon they'll work in an industrial sized toploader ? And I know I saw somewhere selling ends for trialling I don't suppose you'd remember where

Flamesparrow · 26/09/2007 19:24

Not a clue!

nappyzone · 26/09/2007 20:18

kiwi if you find anywhhere let me know im intrigued....

Kikiddee - something different - you know whats coming (flame and curly probs have bets on this....) POCKETS!!!! Great, super, smashing - worth a bash if your feeling adventurous. I have oodles on my site

kikidee · 26/09/2007 22:46

Thanks all for posts. I have more questions please. I have looked at the Wambamboos on Flamesparrow's site although no picture. They are reduced which is attractive but are they reduced as they are being discontinued or just as a special offer. Can anyone tell me why they would be better than Bamboozles?

Have also looked at the Teddies. Would they be slimmer than the Fluffles does anyone know?

Sandys have also been recommended. Are they sort of in between a Fluffle and a Bamboozle for drying time?

I am intrigued by the pocket nappies Nappyzone, please tell me more.

Finally - I like the sound of soap nuts. My Fluffles retain a slight smell which, from extensive reading of Mumsnet, I think may be caused by detergent residue. Would soap nuts deal with that and will it make bamboo nappies as soft as if they had been tumble dried? Where can I buy them please?

Thanks all for helping to get me sorted out.

OK I think Flame has reduced the Wambamboos as they have now been rebranded as Bamineo/Bambinex but are the same nappy. They are higher in the rise and have longer tabs than a Bamboozles so will last you longer.

Teddy's are slimmer than a Fluffle, much less "bulky"

Sandy's are quite quick for drying time, a cotton nappy and quicket to dry than a Tots Bots Cotton or a Little lamb.

Flamesparrow · 27/09/2007 09:26

Yup, they are reduced because they are old stock.
