7 month old vomiting and poo change

Hi all,

My DS is almost 8 months old but was born at 36 weeks and spent two weeks in NICU.

We were advised to introduce foods slightly earlier than 6 months due to him being premature, so starting introducing purées at 5 months old - giving him a taste really, a few spoonfuls once a day.

Slowly we’ve been increasingly his food intake as advised by the HV and he now has three meals a day:

Porridge or fruit yoghurt for breakfast

Purée meat and veg, or potatoes and veg, then a yoghurt or purée fruit for lunch

And much the same for dinner.

I felt it was a bit much to put him on three meals straight away so we have built up to it over the past few months.

The problem is his poo has changed hugely (this might be TMI) but he is having really long, sticky, hard poo’s for a few weeks and his bottom is really red and sore.

He’s also been vomiting a lot after his evening meal.

He’s still having milk, approx 600ml - 700ml each day, always an hour or so before food and a bottle about midnight.

I don’t know whether I’m over feeding him, hence the vomiting in the evenings, or whether I’m not giving him enough of the right foods - which is why his poo has changed and his bum is now sore - although I have been putting this down to the increase in food.

I’m just really just looking for some advice. I don’t know whether to cut a meal out, introduce prunes or stop giving solids for a few days and see if that helps the vomiting and the bottom situation.

He’s my first child and we really went through hell when he was born - I’ve never worried about another person so much in my life, so any suggestions or help would be great. Thank you.
