Smelly sweat, 6 year old DD.

DD came home from contact with exH today (so I'm not 100% about washing...). When she was cuddling me after drop off, I noticed that she smelled noticeably sweaty.

It's been very hot here today, but this is the first time she's ever had this problem - sweaty, but not smelly sweat. DD is just 6 (by a couple of months), I'm concerned that this is rather early. Is this within the realms of normal, or should I be making a gp appointment?

My DD wow she could be related to Stig of the dump at times. From 7 years old she's had to wear deodorant, first a roll on kind now she's older an aerosol. Has to change her school blouse every day and has to have a bath everyday. She finds it hilarious when she's stinky and thinks its funny to put her armpit in my face. It is what it is, no big deal.

Could it be someone else sweat that she has been hugging a lot?

my younger DC needed deodorant from an early age - I can't remember how old but maybe 7 or 8. she had no other signs of precocious puberty or other health problems, and is still very much pre-pubertal now aged nearly 10. She's just a sweaty little beast.

My DDs are sweaty too, 8 and 12, 12 yr old been wearing deodorant for many years. Sweaty little monkeys. I've never really been a sweaty person and neither is my DS 15.

I'm sure she won't need deodorant at just 6, just make sure she baths/showers everyday and keep an eye on it.

My DD I think was 7 when started needing to wash armpits more and wear deodorant.

She has been a sweaty beast since the day she was born Grin. Used to have to only put her in footless baby grows because her feet got so sweaty...

Definitely her sweat, not picked up from someone else. I can smell her dad from far away (I think anxiety massively impressed my sense of smell) and it was nothing like him. She has absolutely no other signs of puberty, so I'll just ensure she washes very thoroughly and keep an eye for now. I'm glad to hear it's not such an outlier in terms of age!

My DD had the same (underarm BO) from age 6. But she also had some spots and a growth spurt (moved up a centile) and on that basis was referred to an endocrinologist. They found higher levels of androgens but it has only needed monitoring, no intervention. Just keep an eye and discuss with your GP if there are any other changes.
