What ages did you give your children mobile phones?
We have promised our dc one for their 11th birthday but thinking of getting it a few months earlier to make communication with friends easier. My dc2 is 8 and would also like a phone, mainly for games and camera possibly the odd FaceTime. Is 8 to young?
Any advice welcome!

Not my child but my younger sister got an IPod touch for her 8th birthday. No social media or anything just used it for games pictures and mainly bugging the life out of me FaceTimeing and messaging me emojis😂 I think 11 is a good age for a mobile phone with them starting secondary etc

I hadn't thought of something like that, thank you! That's a good alternative 🙂

My eldest was 10 when he got a phone but it was only really because he was taking himself to middle school and back again. My middle is 8 and has been asking for one, not a chance. He doesn't need one.

Depends on circumstances

My DSS got his phone when he was 10 so that my DP could contact him. He is now 13 and never puts credit on his phone, just uses WhatsApp to contact people.

My DSD is 8 and has been asking for a phone for years. There is absolutely no way DP would let her have a new phone with a sim card. She has no concept of how money works and doesn't understand that by sending messages or making calls, she is using up credit (and there's no way DP would pay for a contract!). She gets to play on DP's old phone when she is here, but that is it xx
