Babies outside in this heat

Is it too hot for a 4 week old baby to be outside in the yard in this heat?
A person further down the terrace has a baby and was outside and the baby was crying, not for very long though. I think they must have fed her.
I feel the baby should be inside in the cool or with a fan, not blowng directly on them but moving the air around the room.

I think id trust the parent to do whats best.

I sat in my garden, the shade with my baby today. He was in a nappy. It was cooler outside than it was inside. The last thing id have wanted was a judgey neighbour coming over to tell me he really should he inside.

Oh my goodness these sorts of threads make me feel like every action I take is probably being judged by some judgy neighbour and being scrutinised on mumsnet! Yes it's hot. It's hot indoors and outdoors right now. In my house, it's actually cooler in the shade outdoors than in my stuffy house, despite the fans blowing. I have a 1 year old and I'm expecting my second child imminently and I'm certainly not going to have us all stay locked up all summer just because it's warm outside- I'll be using common sense with my newborn and staying in the shade and avoid peak heat of the day! I I used to live in Australia and honestly people with babies did go outside, believe it or not!! It's just about using common sense! I'm amazed you are writing on a forum questioning someone's decision to go outside onto their terrace with a baby and insinuating the baby might die of heatstroke as a result?!

Also my baby cried all the time when he was tiny... and not because he was too hot! It would have destroyed me if someone thought he was crying because I was neglecting him in some way! How many children do you have and did they not cry when they were babies?!

Also I have to ask... what precisely were you going to do if random strangers on mumsnet replied saying that they believed that the baby shouldn't be outside?! Call social services?! Go round there and insist they take the baby indoors?! Take photos and shame them in social media? You said you would never have forgiven yourself if the baby died of heatstroke... so what was your actual purpose in posting this and what were you actually intending to do?!

I'm with the other posters who find your post very judgy I'm afraid.... and a little ridiculous.

I have a 3 & 1 year old. We spent all day down the beach today, from about 11am-4.30pm. They’re fine. Absolutely fine. We had a pop up tent for some shade, uv swimsuits & factor 50 applied regularly.

Mind your business OP. You heard a baby cry for a nano second & now you’d ‘feel awful If the baby became ill or died of heatstroke’

I’m sure the babies parents care about their baby even more than you do.
