Activities with baby when it's hot

Looks like it's 30 degrees all week here! Argh.

We're in a flat that gets quite warm, and we don't have a garden. Even walks will be a bit hit for me in the middle of the day. Any suggestions for good hot weather activities for an 8 month old?

Put towels down in the kitchen. Put some water in a washing up bowl/baby bath and some toys. Splash and play.

Get a fan.

Lots of time on the floor with baby in just a nappy and do sensory play. Chiffon scarves, light up balls, that kind of thing.

Go for your tea as a picnic in the park.

My normal hot weather solutions - swimming, shopping centre, parents' lovely cool house - are obviously unavailable!

Don't even bother with clothes for the child! Long baths with lots of toys. Waterplay as pp suggested. Put a fan in the room you're playing in. Maybe preempt it but freezing either breastmilk if you're bf, formula milk if ff, minimilk lollies if you're happy with that or make up some squash really weak and make squash ice lollies. I also freeze some of DS toys in ice for him to smash up and get the toy out but he is a bit older

We have a hot flat too, last year we had a lot of uncomfortable days, DS was 6 months ish. I put the baby bath I lounge (we have wood floor) with lots of towels and toys in. Reading near the fan.

We find it's actually cooler outside in the shade than in our flat so you could go to a park and sit in the shade.

Do you use a sleeping bag? We have a 0.5 tog if it's really warm we only put him in it in a nappy for sleeps.
