Hi all. DS2 is 8.5 months old. He was breast fed for first 6 months and formula from then on. He has always struggled with getting burps up. I will burp him after a bottle and keep him upright at least half an hour before nap/bed. But he will wake early from a nap, wriggling around with burps that he can't get out and once he's down for bed we have to go in another 3/4 times over the next few hours and he usually also wakes around 5am wriggling around. Last night at 5.10am it took me an hour to get the burp up. So that's the other problem, we're doing all the winding positions and the burp takes ages to shift. It is just rubbish, for him as it's breaking his sleep and for us.
He had infacol when he was younger, mild improvement. Last bottle is given an 5pm to allow 2 hours for the burps to come up before bed, we've used infant gaviscon in his last bottle for the past month-without the gaviscon he screams and is arching his back with the trapped wind, so it definitely helps. And the past 3 days, on Dr's advice we are putting gaviscon in every bottle. The past two weeks, we have also used reduced lactose formula, which hasn't made any difference.
The Dr says he's fine otherwise and that he will just grow out of it. DS1 was the same but when we used gaviscon at 6 months he slept fine. DS2 eats really well, a varied diet and as soon as the burps are up he settles quickly. We are tearing our hair out! Any advice/experience of this please??
