Please reassure me about reluctant potty trainers

My ds is just 3 and is adamant he wants nothing to do with the potty. We made some progress recently in actually convincing him to try sitting on one and he even did a few wees on there but he's over that now and has gone back to not wanting anything to do with the whole thing! Will he just come round to the idea at some point?

My mum put us in those cheap grey joggers you get and if we wet ourselves and asked to get changed, she only would if we agreed to wee in potty next time & repeat. She said it only lasted a day as we hated the feel of wet joggers. A bit contrivertial but it was over 30 years ago.
