8 month old suddenly refusing to sleep at bedtime

My DS has always been an amazing sleeper from birth. For the last three months he has consistently slept 8-7 every night. The last week he has been in teething misery so naturally hasn’t slept much. Has settled down thankfully but when I take him for bath and bed he refuses to sleep in his cot. Or he’ll nap for 20 mins then be wide awake for hours. I’m exhausted. Is this normal? He has a solid 3 hour sleep every day late morning and is always ready for bed at 7-7.30 so I’m confused why he suddenly won’t go to bed.

I've got a thread on here under this name because dd did exactly the same thing at the same age, though it was 14 years ago! It was a bloody awful few weeks, but she went back to sleeping brilliantly again (and still does). Around the same age she got more teeth and developed a fast crawl, so I think was linked to physical development.

It is a huge shock when your good sleeper stops sleeping isn't it?! Hopefully just a phase and normal will resume soon.

There is an 8 month regression - it's quite typical for sleep to go out the window at this time. If you had a good sleeper to begin with then hopefully it will be a short-lived phase.

Four weeks in and no improvement. It’s soul destroying. Will it ever end? Not had an hour to myself at night in so long, it’s a killer.
