A crap meal for a toddler? he has it once every fortnight or so but I always feel guilty I've not cooked properly for him!
(he does get proper meals other nights) lol

I think it's an excellent meal. Eggs are a great source of protein. Just need to add some veg (I always do tomatoes and mushrooms with eggs).

Reader1984 · 17/06/2020 17:30

My toddler has egg on toast, spaghetti on toast, beans on toast..

doadeer · 17/06/2020 17:31

I don't think so at all....! It's a totally fine tea in my eyes

We have egg on toast for lunch once a week. I just make sure he has fruit and yogurt and breakfast and lots of veg with tea. Best to look at a toddlers diet over the course of a week or month rather than at each meal. Some days mine barely eats!

ArriettyJones · 17/06/2020 17:32

No, it’s fine, as part of a varied diet, although you’ll get the orthorexia crowd along soon to tell you it’s veritable poison, no doubt.

SqidgeBum · 17/06/2020 17:32

No. Egg is very good for a toddler, full of protein and has vitamin D. Toast is fine, better if its wholemeal but it's not particularly bad. I know toddlers who eat a lot worse. My 18 month old loves egg on toast for breakfast

FormerlyFrikadela01 · 17/06/2020 17:32

Absolutely. Mine loved egg on toast and as he discovered more flavours we would add tomatoes or spinach to the egg. Still loves just plain old egg every now and then.

namechangenumber2 · 17/06/2020 17:40

It's a great tea for a toddler! No toddlers in this house but it's a regular, at least once a week, meal here!

Ducky1900 · 17/06/2020 17:57

He's had grapes, apple, banana today.
He's not so great with veggies but does have lots of Fruit.
And usually eats what we eat, chilli, jacket spuds, casserole, roast dinner etc
He's a great eater.
Just think if it As a cop out meal.
Thanks for Reassuring I'm not being a complete lazy mum!

Cop out? Ha. No. Just because something is quick doesnt always mean it's bad for them. Healthy meals dont have to always take time. My daughter has porridge with fruit most mornings. It takes 5 minutes in the microwave and I just chop the fruit quickly. Its fast, but its healthy. Doing quick and healthy meals sounds like a savvy mom, not a lazy one.

My 2 year old has this for lunch a few times a week at his request! I grate carrot and cheese into the scrambled egg and you can serve with whole meal toast and tomatoes or carrot sticks or something. I think it’s perfectly fine meal. I’m just glad he’s eating an unprocessed protein as he’s fussy with meat.

lancslass17 · 17/06/2020 22:59

My almost 2 year old loves poached egg on toast with asparagus!! At the weekend he woke early from his nap and ate most of mine!
I think it's a healthy one to have.
He had egg on toast tonight after I cocksd up spag bol and ended up too spicy.
At Christmas we went to a relatives and he pointed at roast beef! Ate loads and still loves a roast dinner!

MostlyAmbridgeandcoffee · 17/06/2020 23:00

It’s a great meal !

SpillTheTeaa · 17/06/2020 23:00

We all do cop out meals! It's not a crap dinner by any means.

Holothane · 17/06/2020 23:11

I love eggs in any shape or form on toast yum.

Comefromaway · 17/06/2020 23:13

An excellent meal. Egg on toast is the food of the gods, only bettered by egg & beans on toast.

Pluckedpencil · 18/06/2020 07:52

Eggs on toast are a great meal, as long as other meals in the week include other nutrients. Not every meal has to be 100% balanced. Wholemeal bread is not necessary and probably less healthy for a toddler, as the fibre fills them and means they may eat less of something more nutritious later.

bluefoxmug · 18/06/2020 07:57

totally fine.
ideally use wholemeal bread and add some veg (carrot sticks?)

AnyNamePlease · 18/06/2020 08:02

Mine loved scrambled eggs on toast. Most of the time on its own or sometimes with beans or with a few flakes of mackerel or ham. Nothing wrong with it

ChaoticCatling · 18/06/2020 08:27

Add avocado, some baked beans, or mushrooms and tomatoes.
