So my girl is almost 5 week old, I had her on cow and gate stage one milk, not sure if this was down to the milk but she was really windy, seemed so uncomfortable pulling legs up, grunting, crying always farting to! Was told to get gaviscon first, tried that didn’t seem to work, next tried infacol and that didn’t seem to work either, tried dr brown bottles, different teet sizes ect and nothing seemed to work so I’ve tried cow and gate comfort. For the first 3 days it seemed to of worked a treat! Overall a lot better than before! But today she seems to of been a little grunty, and bringing legs up again, and a little unsettled! She also seemed to struggle poopping (she did before I changed milk to) and when she did poo it was green and looser, I know this is normal but for her to struggle still is this normal? I don’t understand how she can be so good on it for 3 days and then just all of a sudden seem uncomfortable again?! Can I have some advice 😩 just want her to be comfy!

I started mine on cow and gate, then cow and gate comfort and then switched my daughter to Kendamil Organic and she is still on it, it seemed to help, BUT, and I know you don't want to hear this, it may just be her age. I spent so much money on formula, different bottles including Dr Brown's, infacol, gripe water, you name it, but I think she just grew out of it. Like you I found things worked for a few days and then it went back to how it was before. Unfortunately their digestion is just not fully working before about 3/4 months. You have my upmost sympathy as this was me in Jan/Feb. It will pass but it is hellish at the time!

&@Jellycatismyspiritanimal yeah I've heard they do grow out of it maybe I should just stick with the milk seen as though before today it seems to of been working and been the best thing I've tried !xx

I switched to comfort after a screaming, uncomfortable baby. It helped symptoms within 24 hours and took 2 weeks fully for things to settle. The green, foil smelling poos are due to the comfort milk, I just for used to them. But as above said, it can just be their age and their digestive symptom needing to mature over time. I needed comfort milk due to baby being on antibiotics as soon as born which stripped her stomach lining. I think the crying during feeds stopped around 3 months and life became easier x

Yes, as PP said it takes 10 days to 2 weeks for it to fully work. The green loose stool is what it's like with the comfort formula.
Try waiting until the 2 week mark and then see how she is.

What do her poohs look like coming out? Are they loose and watery, a normal shape or do they look skinny like a pencil?

Bittersweet12 · 16/06/2020 21:00

@anotherdayinmumlife yeah I have noticed a difference but just with her being a little uncomftabke today I wondered if this means it's not working? It's so hard isn't it!
