Low birth weight baby

Long time lurker, first time poster. Had my first DC in Dec, induced due to IUGR, they were SGA and weighed 2kg at birth.

We've been fully discharged from neonatal team etc and have been told to treat them as a normal DC. However my concern is that they have never ever been on the charts, for weight or for length. And even now at 5 months, they are still not on the charts. HV / GP seems happy that as the weight gain has been fairly consistent there's nothing to worry about, and so we've been left to it.

Obviously it's easy for outsiders to just dismiss me as "well they're growing so it's fine" but I'm conscious that DC is still so so small and it's so demoralising to feel so dismissed by everyone. I just wondered whether anyone has experienced anything similar where their baby went on to catch up / thrive? I know every baby is different and so long as they're healthy I'll be happy but would just like to know if there's anything else I could be doing to help them catch up, as haven't been able to find much discussion about babies who aren't on the charts.

Hello, didn't want to read and run. My daughter wasnt as small as your little one, but 5.3 and was on the 0.3 centile so only just! In terms of weight charts etc, could you plot on the preterm baby chart? I found that when weaning began she caught up massively (still a great eater!), shes always been short (how I dont know her dad is 6'4). But now she is just behind the 50th centile, so massively grown since being a smaller baby. She has always been slightly longer in terms of her physical development... crawling 10 months and shes starting walking at 16 months, so that has taken her slightly longer. But now you honestly wouldn't know she has always been small! It's easy to say dont worry, how are they tracking weight and height when baby isnt on the centiles? Could genetics be a part of it?
