Baby now rolling to sleep on front. How do you put them down?

4.5 month old is now rolling and sleeping on his front. He is much more settled sleeping this way, wears an alarm and can easily roll back on to back if he needs to.

Just wondered if I am doing the right thing in the way I put him down. I still put him in the cot on his back, he then thrashed for about 5 mins before either rolling and settling or waking himself up, crying and we start the settling process again.

Am I right to keep putting him down on his back or would you pop them down on their front now?

That's what I've always done. 2 of mine would roll straight over from about 3 months and sleep on their fronts, the other turned onto her side

Keep putting them on their back. Mines was a front sleeper and still is as a toddler

Keep putting on back but don't adjust if they move

Agree with PP, put down on back, it's up to baby if they want to move.

Against the grain, obviously, but as soon as DD was able to roll both ways we put her down on her front. She slept SO much better like that, it she went down awake on her front she'd be off in 5 minutes, if she went down awake on her back she'd scream and cry for up to an hour (with us going in and out to comfort) until she remembered she could roll on her front, and then she'd go to sleep instantly. She has never once self settled on her back, so i don't see the point in making her try.

Baby gets put down on their back. It’s great fun watching the baby monitor to see what positions they get into trying to get to sleep. Currently napping on their side right now.

Mine was like this, once she learned to roll she pretty much stopped sleeping on her back. I always put her in on her back but she's flipped over within 5 minutes.

Same. I kept putting mine back on her back again or side
