She only drank 13 oz today. Ate no solids..

Is this normal? :( feel like I have failed today.

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Losing their appetite around teething is normal.

Did she eat ok yesterday?

Is she otherwise ok?

You might be in for a tough night if she hasn't eaten enough during the day! Hopefully she'll take some milk then.

@NuffSaidSam thank you for the reply. She fed well yesterday. She seems well.

I just tried feeding her again but she only took 1 oz :( will try again in an hour.

I have a feeling she will wake up through out the night :(

My 7 month old has been the same for a couple of days with his top 2 teeth emerging. The good news is though it has not affected his sleep. I hope you get a good night.

@weepingwillow22 thank you for the reply. I can slightly see the bottom tooth. Just one but looks like two gum areas swollen. Could the other be coming out too? How long does all this take? I hope she sleeps through the night.. I'm so tired today.

My LOs bottom two teeth took around 5 days to come out fully however the first couple of days were the worst. They came out as a pair. You are probably over the hardest bit now. The only thing my LO will eat when teething is pear.

The top 2 which are currently emerging were about a month later.

Yorkiee · 11/06/2020 22:15

@weepingwillow22. Aw with 5 days you were lucky. It's been a week and still hasn't fully appeared. Sorry to keep asking you questions. Did your LO drink formula / BF.

I just tried giving LO now and she didn't drink :( I'm not sure if I should try again in 1 or 2 hours or just wait and see if she wakes up?

How was your night? I hope you got some sleep.

My LO is breastfeed. No idea how much milk he is getting. He seemed to maintain breastfeeds though whilst teething but dropped most solids. I sometimes gave calpol before a feed which seemed to help. Also he liked chewing on a wet flannel. He seemed to like eating teething gel but no idea if it did anything.

Yorkiee · 12/06/2020 08:13

@weepingwillow22 thank you so much for asking. She actually slept through the night but again didn't feed. I could normally dream feed her but she wasn't having it. Again this morning she would not drink her formula. I gave some poridge but she won't take it with formula. She ate some with water mixed. Not sure what to do. How often should I offer solids as she won't take formula.

Waiting for her nap time so I try again.

Thank you so much again.

Have you tried giving her some calpol before solids/formula? If she will not take formula I would try some greek yoghurt or other soft high calorie foods e.g avocado.

It seems odd that she is off formula in food too as I would have thought it would be more of a bottle aversion due to the pain than the flavour. Hopefully others will be along with more advice.

Yorkiee · 12/06/2020 10:43

@weepingwillow22 thank you! Will prepare that for her lunch. I added formula to her meals yesterday but looking back now I just think she didn't have an appetite. Looking back at my post and I didn't make that clear! (Sorry) I managed to feed her some poridge again with water this morning but I will try with formula tomorrow morning and see how thet goes.

I can't tell how how grateful I am for your help. Made me feel so much better.

@weepingwillow22 I managed to get her to drink 3oz. I guess it's better than nothing! Will keep offering every 3/4 hours as I do and offer little solid in between.

Thank you soo soo soo much!

Ah no problem, glad she is drinking. It sounds like you are doing a great job. Hopefully not too much before the second tooth pops through.

They are such a worry, my LO has been refusing to nap all day but is asleep now so I am having a big glass of wine to celebrate Smile.

Yorkiee · 12/06/2020 21:19

@weepingwillow22 aww my LO refused nap today too and just fell asleep. I'm dying for some ice cream. 😂

Hopefully it comes through soon. Now I have the experience hopefully I won't be as worried.

I can't thank you enough! Hope you have a restful evening! ☺️😊
