Advice on prams/car seats for small car

Hi!

I am 29 weeks pregnant with my first and looking now at prams and car seats.

I’m beginning to get slightly concerned reading various posts online because I have a Fiat 500 which we all know is tiny.

I’m concerned that pram/car seat will not fit properly. Clearly we don’t have the luxury at the moment of being able to visit stores and try them out in my car.

I was wondering if anyone else has/had a tiny car with a baby and some recommendations of the best prams/car seats that don’t cost an arm and a leg.

Thanks in advance from one confused momma!Smile

I had a Cosatto Giggle when a relative collected us in a Fiat 500. We had to post the car seat in via the boot..
Ds def wasn't in it at the time. Blush
Frame fit in the boot though. Handle folds back and wheels come off easily.

Just be crafty. You don't need your boot to store your pram. I have a kia picanto I'd put the car seat in back pram frame in back behind driver seat and other bit in the boot. It worked well for us. Now I have a fixed car seat and a wee joie pram that fits in the boot.

Husband and I both have 3 door fiesta's so pretty small - we bought an oyster3 which is fairly light and was one of the best frames to fold down compactly that we saw, it is practically completely flat when it folds.

Our most local big pushchair/equipment shop has started doing one-to-one in store appointments in the last week but haven't got the shop "properly" open so it might be worth enquiring with the shops near you if any of them can accommodate you for a demo and trialling a few models in your boot? They're being super careful with cleanliness and only letting one lady/couple in at any one time which is great and much less stressful than a free for all.

I had a 3 door micra. I did my back the first week my husband went back to work trying to get my daughter in and out the car without a back door. Only half the pram would fit in the boot, the other half had to be posted on to the back seat. It was a nightmare. I sold the car when she was 6 months old.

That said, I had a hand me down pram so maybe there are some which fit in very small cars. From memory, my sister in law had a Fiat 500, she put the baby in the front seat with the airbag off and the pram went on the back seat. I don’t think baby in the front is as safe though.
