At what point is a baby safe to be in a car seat for longer than 2 hours ?

I don’t know but they soon get to a point when you need to stop all the time for them to have a wee.

Technically never. The limit is supposed to apply right the way through! In reality use common sense, if they tend to stay head up when they fall asleep and don't end up in the chin to chest position, it's probably OK to let them stay in it a bit longer.

I recently changed my car seat from a Cybex Aton 5 to a Joie 360 Spin as it reclines slightly as my 4 month old son kept ending up with his chin to his chest when he fell asleep. It was so unsafe and im actually really suprised its manufactured like that.

Im happier to let him sleep and stay in it a while longer now.

Lets, that may be down to the angle of your car seats. The Cybex has a little guide on the side of it which is supposed to be level with the horizon when it's installed. In some cars that won't be level on the base so you'd be advised to fit with seatbelt as you can adjust the angle manually then.

We did try that and it made very little difference. I also wasnt happy with using the seatbelt.

Ah fair enough. We had the Aton 5 as well and I really didn't like the shape of the headrest - I felt it pushed the head forward way too much. It got a bit better when he was older but then the headrest hardly raised in the seat so he was out of it by 8 months

We have the Joie 360 now as well :)
