I’m starting to worry a little about my 3 year old son, (he’s only just turned 3)
There’s been periods of his life where he’s taken a shine to certain things, like baby shark.. CBeebies.. peppa pig.. all the normal stuff.
but none of them has ever come close to his fascination with Humpty Dumpty...
He’ll sing the song over and over again, seemingly never tiring of it.. he’ll question what happens next as if he’s never heard it before .. e.g “daddy.. what happens when Humpty sits on the wall???”
He’ll choose to watch YouTube Humpty Dumpty videos over anything else.. if I give him my phone for example, he’ll always choose Humpty over his CBeebies games etc.
He asks for Humpty Dumpty when he wakes up, he’s sat up in the middle of the night before and started saying the rhyme In his sleep.. his birthday presents were essentially judged on how suitable they were to recreate Humpty Dumpty.. give him a pen and paper, he draws Humpty Dumpty..
My wife and I try everything we can think of to distract him from it, and tbh he does seem easily distracted most of the time.. but the minute he’s left to his own devices, it’s back to Humpty.. he used to make his own little stories up with his farmyard.. now he just lines up the animals and pushes them off the “wall” (the coffee table)
I don’t know at what point i should be concerned.. sometimes I think “well if it wasn’t Humpty Dumpty it would just be something else like paw patrol” ...but some days I just don’t think I can hear the words “Humpty Dumpty” one more time.. it’s gone on for the past 7 or 8 months now, he starts nursery soon and I’m worried he’ll be sat on his own in a corner playing Humpty Dumpty repeatedly.. any tips or advice?
