DC2 5.5 month old off her milk - do anything?

Hi

She’s been teething since about 2 months but has always been a good eater. Recently though she’s gone right off it - I mean down from having 5 x 6-7 oz bottles to 5 x 1-5oz per day. She’s only had 3 oz this morning at 6.30.

Shes not unwell so to speak, a bit grumpy. She has a good layer of chub on her so I doubt she’s underweight. Just see how it goes do you reckon or speak to HV?

Thanks x

Is she still doing plenty wet nappies?

Gettingonabitnow · 07/06/2020 13:19

Yes loads.

The only concern is dehydration. So if baby is fine in herself and is still having plenty of wet nappies then I wouldn't worry. If wet nappies reduce and she continues to not want much milk, I'd try water (or squash 🙈) to get fluids in.

Is it time to wean maybe?

Gettingonabitnow · 07/06/2020 16:04

Thanks ladies. Well I say ‘fine’, she’s really really grumpy, but not ill, no temp etc.

Yeah I’m thinking weaning. I’ve been giving her literally some tastes of porridge (reduction in milk began before this), but I might step it up a gear.

Does she have a temp or seem unwell? I would get her checked out?

Gettingonabitnow · 07/06/2020 22:46

Thanks. No she doesn’t have a temp I’m continually checking it. Yes I think I’ll ring the HV tomorrow.

This is normal during teething or a growth spurt. DS went off his milk at 5.5 but then started to eat loads of solids and bf more often too - so I seem to be feeding him round the clock now. It will tail of eventually.
