i hate the way parents buy BIG presents for no reason at all( like nintendos)

DD was given a choice of bike or cash for her birthday. She chose cash and frittered it away on crap.

Later in the year the moans started 'My bike is too small'

I made her save up for the bike.

Oh yes, ds's friend was buying a DS (confusingly enough) last week, and I said to his dad "oh, it's bhis birthday next month isn't it?" and he said "yes, but we've already bought his present for that". I wouldn't be able to think of birthday and Christmas presents if I did that. I do buy small things quite often though.

My eldest wanted a new bike for her birthday. Got enough money to buy one. When told that she decided to not spend her money anyway and carry on with a smaller bike until next birthday/xmas...

Yes, I am currently trying to convince dh that ds needs a Wii for Christmas. He's going to have to come up with a valid alternative before I budge, but he never will because he knows nothing about children's presents mwah hah hah.

I totally agree. My DH spoils SS to the point of the riddiculous (he lives with us btw so its none of the parental seperation guilt crap). Last week he bought him a nintendo Wii. SS is 7 and its his birthday next month - wtf? I think it makes kids greedy ungratefully little gits! . scrooge here will be buying her ds a piece of coal for xmas gurn gurn lol
