Franny, I totally agree with you.

You remember the threads I've posted about my horrible menstrual yuckiness?

I think it's only right I should update, since you've been so sympathetic in the past.

Last month, I took two paracetamol. That was it. Nothing else, when before I've been taking prescription painkillers and still not managing the pain that well.

Also, my period was MUCH lighter - you know I said I was filling it several times a day? Half-full or less usually, brim-full once, and a shorter period.

Coincidence? I think not. The mooncup has changed the way I feel about my period too - I've had three surgeries for endometriosis and periods that were worse than labour (yes, really), so that's saying something!

Franny, are you still selling them?

hunkermunker · 23/09/2007 00:27

Cos if you're not, anyone wanting one can order through this link if they love me

fihi · 23/09/2007 00:28

thanks for being so informative guys. i think i am pretty much converted. When i have a crisis like the poor lady who started this thread you'll be the first to hear...

Malaleche · 23/09/2007 00:30

BTW nice to see you Hunker but weren´t you having a 6 month sabbatical from MN? Starting 3 months ago?... couldn´t keep away eh?

hunkermunker · 23/09/2007 00:31

LOL - I've been back twice already! I seem to do a month on, a month off.

fihi · 23/09/2007 00:31

hunker, will get on your link to buy. ta, girl.

re-read thread and LOL. DH thinks i'm insane as i won't tell him what i'm laughing at.

had too much wine, but decision to buy is made.
time to fall into bed methinks.

VeniVidiVickiQV · 23/09/2007 00:40

Amazing!
I had never heard of this!

EricL, we not mad.
Going to such lenghts to be eco friendly........imagine, if women ruled the world, would be a much better place

FrannyandZooey · 23/09/2007 10:42

Slim, it has very little to do with being eco-friendly for most women, and nothing to do with "going to such lengths". It's really EASY and much much more pleasant than using tampons or sanitary towels. It's comfortable, clean, free after initial outlay, and can reduce pain and length of period for some women.

Hunker I will do another order at some point but it was taking up so much of my time I needed a break from it, for now.

lailasmum · 23/09/2007 10:51

if the mooncup is making squelchy sucking noises inside you then its not opened out properly so give it a twist. if you can feel it than that is also a sign its not in properly. I totally cut the tail off mine as you can always sort of just grab the bottom of the mooncup itself to get it out.

pampam · 23/09/2007 11:02

i now feel much more confident about using mine and am off to cut off the stem right now.

lailasmum · 23/09/2007 12:05

if you cut all the stem off don't panic if it takes a little bit of a fiddle to get it out at first. I sort of grab the bottom and it twists & bends slightly then you have something to pull.

Dabbles · 23/09/2007 14:31

I had given up with mine after yesterday, but am goign to try again!

LOVE the mooncup too, always hated tampons and that silly string hanging out, (never understood how hygenic it was to go for a wee with a tampon in, without it travelling up the string into the tampon) I found it really strange and uncomfortable with the mooncup at first, but the best advice is to cut the stem off like others have advised, it's so much easier to take out by pinching the bottom of the cup and releasing the suction, rather that struggling with the stem and suction working against you.

It's strange how although it's a pretty gruesome idea, I feel so much cleaner now, than using towels. Weirdly less painful periods since using it too. Am currently 6months pregnant though so periods are a distant memory at the moment...

Dabbles · 23/09/2007 20:37

How do u microwave it?
