Franny, dont worry about it - i think its fine.

I mean, some folk cook bits of dead animals in their pans

FrannyandZooey · 23/09/2007 00:07

By jove VVV you have a point there

Roskva · 23/09/2007 00:07

A mooncup is not like a tampon - it's much more comfortable. The first time I used it, I thought I was the first person ever to manage to lose it up there, but the advice to bear down and tilt it worked for me (if you tense your pelvic floor muscles when trying to get the thing out it is counterproductive and it moves in the wrong direction). I've actually had a lot less period pain since I've been using a mooncup, I have no idea why, maybe there are acupressure points up there? (and I'm talking dosed up on painkillers and in bed with hot water bottle period pain before)

No Franny please don't make buying a separate pan the done thing or I will feel the need also and I don't want to.

I also cook dead animals in my pans.

PMSL. sorry. Wiondered about night and you have almost converted me... will never look at a wine glass in the same way again. unfortunately i have looked at too many wine glasses tonight so y pmsl.sorry again.

UCM · 23/09/2007 00:11

Roskva, I found this too. I think it does aid period pains.

FrannyandZooey · 23/09/2007 00:11

I have said this before but as there are a few potential converts hanging around I'll repeat it

it has completely transformed my attitude towards my period

from something rather distasteful and unpleasant that needs to be cleared up after and disposed of in a bin with other dirty rubbish

to something interesting and even enjoyable

yes honestly

I know it sounds mad but other people have said the same

Malaleche · 23/09/2007 00:14

i know what you mean F+Z

VeniVidiVickiQV · 23/09/2007 00:15

It is exposing a gap in the market....

"The revolutionary Mooncup Pan" Conveniently sized and hygienic....

OR

"The Microwave Mooncup steriliser"......

some folk will spend their money on anything

fihi · 23/09/2007 00:15

the appeal to me as a potential convert has gotta be the less pain / less fuss bit. like our friends have already said, no spills on the carpet upon getting up etc. TMI. ok.

Roskva · 23/09/2007 00:17

and no embarrassing incidents pulling pads or tampons out of your bag at the wrong moment

fihi · 23/09/2007 00:19

am i being thick or are u talking about a pan??

fihi · 23/09/2007 00:19

Malaleche · 23/09/2007 00:20

fihi · 23/09/2007 00:21

perhaps TMI required for this q. but anyway, how often do u have to boil it up in pan?

Roskva · 23/09/2007 00:22

who, me?

fihi · 23/09/2007 00:22

anyone brave enuf to answer!

Joash · 23/09/2007 00:22

just ordered one .

FrannyandZooey · 23/09/2007 00:23

Once a month between cycles fihi]

the rest of the time you just empty into the toilet, and give it a wash

fihi · 23/09/2007 00:24

u lot should be on commission

Carmenere · 23/09/2007 00:24

Can you steralise them in the microwave??
I just boil mine up once before the first time I use it each month.
Dp got upset when i tried to put it in the dishwasher

Roskva · 23/09/2007 00:24

I boil mine once each month, just before I use it (but remember to let it cool down first - someone on another thread didn't, with painful results)

harpsichordcarrier · 23/09/2007 00:24

I put mine in Milton because I have some left over, you only need half a tablet and anyway I love the smell I am always afraid I will boil the thing dry and melt it

Bewilderbeast · 23/09/2007 00:24

I think you're supposed to sterilise it at the start or end of each period. Either boil it in a pan or shove it in some milton. But it needs washing either at every insertion or if this isn;t possible (public loo) then as often as possible
