Just gave my newborn old formula - help!

I gave my baby (6 weeks old) 120ml of formula earlier, then burped him and gave him a cuddle. After a while he started crying, bobbing his head and looking like he wanted more food, so I picked up the bottle again and fed him the remaining 30ml. After checking my phone I suddenly realised it was about 1hr 45mins since I made up the bottle - and formula is only meant to be left out for 1 hr! Really worried now that I could have made him ill - I was just so tired and totally lost track of time What can I do?

Thanks everyone for putting my mind at rest. Now I know 2 hours is the limit I will waste a lot less formula!

I think the confusion might be, that if you make it and the baby doesn’t touch it for almost 2 hours, then drank it, it would be fine. If you make it, and baby starts drinking it straight away, bacteria from their mouth mixes with the milk, potentially making it go off quicker, and after the 2 hours it wouldn’t be fine. I think it’s 2 hours from made/opened, but 1 hour after they actually start drinking it.

Anyway, baby will be fine I’m sure. You’d know within an hour or two as they’d be sick. Don’t panic 🙂

OP, give it a couple of years and he'll be eating dirt. He'll be fine, honestly.

It’s 2 hours if the bottle hasn’t been used, 1 hour once the baby’s mouth has touched it. Honestly as a one off I think it’s very, very unlikely it will make your baby sick don’t worry. I’m sure I must have done this at some point too.

Don’t worry. I’ve definitely done this and all was fine
