Getting pregnant when breasfeeding?

Has anyone gotten pregnant whilst breastfeeding?

I'm not currently ttc but breastfeeding my 8 month ds and wondering if I will have to wean him off before I try in a few months?

I have been off the pill for over a month and havnt had a period yet but when I came off before having my son it only took a month for periods to resume as usual which is what has made me wonder if thats why?

I was still breastfeeding my 8 month old when we started trying for a second baby and I was pregnant by the next month! My period had returned about two months before so it was all very quick. My 8 month old still breastfed quite a lot as well including during the night.

I was breastfeeding my seven month old and got pregnant immediately. My periods had returned at four months though. I was delighted but hadn't expected it as it had taken ages to conceive DC1.

Oh thats reassuring then! Im still breastfeeding lots at night but not as much during the day as he's enjoying his food so hopefully I won't have to stop until he's ready

I breastfed my daughter until she was 18 months when my other daughter was born (and she weaned herself off, I didn't make the decision to stop feeding her) so you should hopefully be able to keep going with breastfeeding if you want to!

Currently 7weeks pregnant and still breastfeeding my ds, he's 12months. I thought it was hard to get pregnant while breastfeeding and you had to fully wean to start trying. I was wrong! So it came as a bit of a surprise. Happy to be pregnant again though (just a little sooner than planned)

Since being pregnant my supply has decreased and ds is starting to self wean - he's dropped the day feeds. I'd love him to continue but I'm not sure he will.

I had always heard breastfeeding may limit getting pregnant so glad it looks like many others have been fine doing both! Good we will keep going until it naturally comes to an end then

It completely depends on your body, but yes, it's possible. I was back to regular cycles and ovulating bang on time from 3 months while ebf around the clock. I didn't get pregnant (I had the coil, no more babies for me), but I assume I could have if not for trying not to.

I have a friend who was pregnant at 3 months, while ebf, even though she'd needed years of fertility treatment to get pregnant the first time. It was quite a shock.

So it's definitely possible, but I assume it might take a couple months for your body to figure out what's happening if you just came off the pill. Some people don't get regular cycles back until they stop though, or until their babies are going much longer stretches at night or during the day.
