Car seat for tiny new born

Hi there,
Am a proud mum of a lovely boy who is a few weeks old but is absolutely tiny (5lb13oz). We have a maxi cosi car seat with all the new born add ons which are inserted onto the seat to stabilise his neck, but they still push his head onto his chest which we know is bad news. Does anyone have any advice on this or any other ideas/products to try? I think the car seat itself is fine if he was bigger but these add ons seem to create the position which you're supposed to avoid!

I'd contact maxi cosi for advice on the best position for the car seat.

Thanks very much for the responses. We've been playing around this afternoon and think it's the seat itself, way too upright so are going to replace it with a maxi cosi jade

Our baby was 4lb 11oz and we used a Maxi Cosi CabrioFix seat with a newborn insert. We also popped some blankets under her tiny bottom to prop her up a bit until she grew a bit. I didn't drive anywhere alone with her until she was about 3 months, so my DH could keep an eye on her or move her in the car.

My daughter was 5lb 3oz and fine in the maxi cosi pebble with the insert in.

We have a joie lie flat car seat. It's not completely flat but about 160degrees so very almost. My baby was born 6lbs 14 so not tiny but he was still small. We always keep him laid flat, even now x
