Am I doing it wrong?

DS who is 10 months, nearly 11 months is FF.
He has three bottles a day.

Morning he'll take 7/8oz
Afternoon he'll take 8oz sometimes but usually 5oz.
Evening 6/8oz.

One of my friends commented that he should be having at least 4-5 bottles but I physically cannot get anymore down him. I struggle to get 3 down him. He has yogurts, cheese and milk added to some foods.

I also haven't started him on vitamins because the HV said about too many vitamins is dangerous so now I'm panicked when to start them and if I should now?

I'm just really worried now he isn't getting enough milk. I feel like an absolute idiot for not knowing he still needs 4-5 bottles.

If he eats solids as well then I think he’s Fine! My son is also 10 months and on the days he’s at the childminder the only milk he has is in the night... other than that he’s only on food as he won’t take a bottle.
As long as he’s not I’ll, a good weight and happy I think he’s ok. Try not to stress. Every child is different.

At 10m DD had milk three times a day. She ate a varied diet so probably got some good nutrients that way too, although it wasn't massively calorific food as with dairy/egg allergies her food was mostly veg based at 10m.

I would say that the yogurt, cheese and milk count towards his milk intake for the day. It's a bit of a blur now as it was a while ago, but it sounds similar to what DS was drinking at that age.

I don't agree with your friend at all. Your little one should be gradually transitioning onto more and more solids and being less reliant on bottles (and practicing with cups anyway!). Your ds sounds like hes doing great!
As you move onto less formula I'd start vitamins. I think it's something like less than 500ml a day but you'd have to check. Keep providing a variety of fruit and veg with meals and he should get lots of vitamins naturally anyway.
You sound like you're doing well!

Isn't the point of weaning is to move from milk based diet to a food based diet? They naturally reduce milk as they eat more food.

My DS was eating three good meals per day plus a morning snack by about 10 months along with 2 bottles of milk. If he'd still be on 5 bottles a day (like he was at 6 -8 months) there's no way he would have been eating enough!
