8 week old night time sleeps

So my son goes down for naps beautifully for his day time naps, more often than not I can put him drowsy and with a dummy and he'll send himself off to sleep. Very roughly his naps are 8.30ish-10ish, 11ish-1300ish, 1500ish-1530ish then 1630ish-1700ish.

The night time is a different matter. We do bath, bottle, bed when he's looking sleepy probably around 1800. We're not trying to keep him to a schedule (times) just yet, but do believe the routine of bath, bottle, bed is good to set early on and the times will happen later on, so he comes to associate baths with bedtime.

He will not go down. Either he'll be wide awake for hours, or will sleep for 20 mins and wake. He'll take a small amount of milk each time.

Anyone got any experience? Hints? Anyone got any insight why he's doing this?

He's just being a baby, doing what babies do unfortunately! It's the witching hours! He'll get it as he gets older but he's still very new and still learning day from night. My DS used to nap ok during the day but come 5pm would turn into a nightmare! By 4 months he had a settled and regular 7pm bedtime.

My DS was like this, used to sleep more during the day. It flipped about the 3 month mark and for the last 2 months or so he's been sleeping from 9.30pm to 5/6am with no evening wakes for feeds. He sometimes will not sleep from 4pm till 9.30pm and is a nightmare, but think this is because he's teething.

Have a look at the little ones app. Sounds like he is sleeping a bit too much during the day. We did it with out 8week old and within 2 days of following their nap times he was going down at 7pm and waling at 7am (with feeds through the night).

Highly recommend it!

Unfortunately that's babies for you!! It's good that he naps so well during the day. My daughter would nap for maximum 30 minutes and at night sleep for maximum of 2 hours for the first 4 months 😴😴😴
She is now 10 months old and has one long morning nap, a short afternoon nap and sleeps 7-6... It will get better.
Just try and relax and go with what your baby wants... It won't be forever!

So last night I pushed his bedtime back to 7.30. He went down first time and woke at midnight and 4am for feeds, then got up for the day at 7am.

Yay!
