Hi,
My almost 4 month old baby cries during bfing. I thought she is still hungry and maybe i am not producing enough, but when i try n squeeze some more milk she still seems upset and uneasy. I tried bottle feeding n she doesn't take it at all thought it is my expressed milk. She used to takes bottle for about a month while I was working on ebf. I used to pump then and still do and i have some stay if frozen breast milk, but she didn't take it at all. This has started since yesterday and everyone at almost every feed. I felt maybe its because of the heat .. She herself feels a bit warm, but don't think its fever. Any help appreciated.

Could be wind? Sore tummy? Is she pooing frequently? Could it be thrush - look for a white film on her tongue /mouth that doesn't come off if you wipe (speak to the GP if it's this as you will both need treatment). Sometimes they are just fussy little things - maybe she's coming down with something, maybe it's a growth spurt, maybe she's tired. Have a read about fussy readers on the KellyMom website as there is some good info there.

@KatnissK thanks for your prompt response. Yes she is pooing n weeing normally. Her temperature is 36.9.. no signs of thrush. She just cries a few minutes after being on breast. Will wait n see and also check Kellymom. Ta.

Could be silent reflux?

What kind of food have you been eating, onion? Garlic? Try eating bland stuff for a few days.

Does she calm down? My LO talks a little on the boob. Sounds a little like crying or distressed moans. I think he does this when he wants to up supply. So maybe she is going through a growth spurt and upping your supply. If she comes off settled and is having plenty of wet and dirty nappies I wouldn't worry too much. My LO occasionally sobs on the boob. This is when I have taken too long to give it to him. Just his way of complaining and telling me I was too slow. Lol.

I cant help with regard to the bottle. Maybe see if she will hold it herself?

Hi all thanks for your replies and sorry for the late response. @SomeoneElseEntirelyNow- could have been the case. She has always had a problem of reflux even after a burp.

@madcatladyforever- thanks but onion n garlic have alerts been a part of my daily food intake. Confused

@OnlyLittleMissOrganised i think it was growth spurt as she is fine now n doesn't sob at breast any longer unless , like in your case, i take time in reaching out to her for fed.. She gets very upset n takes much longer to pacify n fed.

Thanks for all your replies, much appreciated.

This is normal - babies go through a growth spurt at 4 and approaching 6 months.

Hey :) Do you usually feed when she wakes up? Or before she goes to sleep? My 3 month old cries when I feed him too close to nap or bed time. He has silent reflux so could be something to do with that but is much better after a sleep.
