Has anyone recently been for these? Do you have to wear a face mask to take your baby? My little boy is due his next week (still waiting for a letter about the date to go though)

We've got this coming up - they have asked me to wear a face mask.

We’ve been to 8 week and 12 week immunisations during lockdown, we have not had to take any special precautions other than ensuring we don’t have symptoms

We went for a set of infant immunisations recently, not the 8 week ones though. No mask required for me and DS but the nurse was in full PPE.

Took my DS for his on wednesday and I was given a face mask to wear and asked the usual questions relating to coronavirus symptoms

We had them on Thursday. Nurse in full PPE. We both had our temps taken before entry. I chose to wear my face mask as I knew I’d be fairly up close to the nurse & that’s what the current guidelines suggest you do 🤷🏼‍♀️ Bar the PPE, it just felt like a regular appointment. The nurse at my GP is so lovely & it was really nice to get out & have a chat to someone different!

My baby seems to think PPE is amusing. We’ve been to the docs twice since she was born & both times she’s not stopped smiling at the doctor/nurse. 😂 until they jabbed her with a needle obviously ..

Do you think if they need me to wear a mask but I can't get hold of one they might provide one?

I don't have any symptoms etc but haven't been able to get a mask yet incase they need me to wear one.

Why dont you phone the place and ask?

We didnt have to wear one last week with my sons 8 week jabs.

MrsBtobe1208 · 24/05/2020 07:26

@Letsallscreamatthesistene because it's weekend and they aren't open. Just looking for experiences before I call when they open again on Tuesday.

I went a few weeks ago for 8 week ones. They did his and my check there too.

I was told I should've stayed in the car until they called for me but no one advised of this, got straight in anyway. Dr was in mask and gloves, only asked a couple of quick qs about me and prescribed the pill again without any blood pressure or weight checks. Checked LO's hips and heart and that was about it.
Went into nurse who had full PPE on. She gave him one dose orally and then two, one in either leg. She quickly wrote it up in his red book and that was it. Very quick and no one about. The chairs were all sectioned off too so you couldn't sit near anyone.

Ours were this week. I wore a mask but was told they could provide one. Nurse in full PPE. Had to carry baby in, no pram or car seat. Wait at door yo be let in so no mingling with others.

Turfed out while his babygro was still open to the legs, no time to do it up.

Felt scary but safe, somehow.
