How can i get baby to nap on her own?

My daughter has just turned 3 months old and whilst I love having her nap on me, practically it won’t work forever.

If she falls asleep on me and I put her down she wakes up immediately and either won’t go back to sleep or cries so I pick her up and she will sleep on me instead.

If I try and put her down sleepy, she will just instantly be awake and look to me for play.

I’ve tried white noise, hot water bottle to warm up (although not really needed currently) and putting something in that smells of me but she seems to be a really cuddly baby!

What’s really weird is at bedtime she’s more than happy to sleep on her own which confuses me greatly 😂 but I’m not complaining!!

Do I just keep trying to put her down on her own and stay with her in the hopes that she will fall asleep eventually? Any tips would be amazing!

I don't think either of mine napped on their own til 6+ months. And DS1 didn't sleep much at night either so you should be thankful 😂

Very interesting post. My boy has just turned 3 months and exactly the same. Hope someone comes along with wise words Smile

Also wanting the hear advice on this as I'm exactly the same - 3 months in and there's no need for the moses basket as he'll just scream if he's anywhere other than on my lap. I count myself lucky if I have both hands free so I can at least scroll through my phone!

Read up on the fourth trimester but even beyond that it’s not the biological norm for a baby to nap in their own.

My DD has a favourite blanky, well two technically as we got gifted 2 of the same. She snuggles her face into it and does have a dummy. She falls asleep on me alot while drinking her bottle but i put her to sleep in her buggy during the day, usually either rocking it works or if tired enough, will go off alone

I must admit I never put mine down to sleep alone so can't help you there. They either fall asleep or they don't. I used to enjoy having a nap cuddled up :-).
