Buggy/stroller for older children?

Our DS is 3. We holiday a couple of times a year (Pre Covid 😂😩) and we take our silver cross zest pushchair, it's ideal as we walk a lot on Holiday and our son can sit in it when he's tired and we even get a nap out of him in it when on hols!
But now he's getting older I'm wondering what people do when they go abroad on on hols with their little ones regarding pushchairs.
He will walk well but I think we would still need a pushchair or something so by the time we next go on hols now he's going to be nearer 4 so what has everyone done when they get to this stage?

Bumping for you as I was looking for a lightweight stroller/buggy to use on holiday but that’s obviously been cancelled. I’m still looking for something to replace for my 28 month old.

We have a cosatto woosh for DS. It folds pretty small and the weight limit is 25kg. He's still small though so I don't have experience with older children actually using it yet.

Just had a nosey on my amazon wishlist and I have saved a Chicco Echo and a Zeta Vooom so these must have been recommended to me at some point.

We went to Florida a few months ago. My youngest two were 7&6 and I used a three wheel jogger type pram I’ve had for a few years and worked fine. Took it right up to the doors of the planes.

You can't beat a maclaren, they all lay flat for naps, super lightweight and fold down slim and ours has been bashed around so much but still looks good and works well.

So it's not frowned upon to have a child in a buggy when on hols for example and you will be walking for long distances?!
He doesn't use a buggy at home at all but going away is different isn't it as you get out and about and we walk for miles some days x

I personally don’t see a problem, he needs to rest his legs so why not use a pram?!
I’m trying to use the pram less but my little one is very stubborn and will only go in the direction he wants to go in when he’s walking

Oh god no, normal rules don't apply on holiday, late nights, little siestas, long days out in the hot sun, no point making life difficult for you all.

I have a zeta vooom that i dig out now and again for my 3yr ds, (ds is quite tall for his age, would actually pass for 4) its a great push chair, easy to fold away and quite light

People who wouldn't use a pushchair for their older children at home definitely still take one on holiday. It's a totally different scenario. I find it invaluable in large airports!

The best for older children IMO is the baby jogger city select. It's not the lightest but it's a one handed fold, a really roomy seat (easily fits most 5 year olds) and has a huge hood. For a smaller version you could look at their smaller travel version, the City Tour.

Sorry didn't mean the Baby Jogger City Select, I meant the City Mini! Or the City Tour.

Take it on holiday! They will still need it.

The heat makes them tired and you don't want to carry them. It's a life saver

Bumping to see if anyone else has any other suggestions. Little one is nearly 2.5 and he’s looking big in his pram now so could do with a bigger one. Not too heavy though

See I would suggest an out n about as my 5 year old was able to sit in it easily and it was still easy to push

Only problem, it isn’t a light buggy to lift and it doesn’t fold down very small though the back wheels come off with a button to help make it slightly smaller.

My five year old still fits in our baby jogger city mini. Folds flat and we've flown with it (in the hold) to Australia.

Most people seem to use a Maclaren from about age 2. I agree it's a good idea for holidays, they can have a siesta then stay up later in the evening, or you may be able to get them to fall asleep in it in the evening so you can stay out past bedtime.

They probably all say up to 3 years. My 5 yo who weighs 18kg still fits into the BJ city mini easily, and I couldn't say that about most pushchairs. You can probably use the search function to find more suggestions for older children.
