Day time naps for a 6 week old

I have a six week old son and I have been reading about how to get babies to sleep well. I am confused as to whether the room where he naps during the day should be dark or light. Should it be light with background noise to help him distinguish between day and night? Or should all naps be in a dark room with maybe white noise?

Whatever works best for your bub. I never darkened the room during the day as I needed her to be able to sleep wherever we were. DD was able to sleep in very bright rooms during the day

Until 6 months old all sleeps need to be in a room with another adult.

At such a time age I would pop them in the sling or a pram for naps.

DS is 9 months and all daytime naps are still either in the pram or in the sitting room - lights on, TV or music on. You don't want to become a slave to naps and have a baby that can only sleep in a darkened room if you can help it!

My 8 week old has his daytime naps in his pram carrycot in the living room. We live our lives around him - talk/tv etc.

I actively didnt darken the room as I want him to know about daylight/darkness and try and get his circadian rhythm established. That said, I feel like im lucky as hes a good sleeper (generally). If he would only sleep in a darkened room I would have done that. Basically, just do what works for your baby!

Do anything that works at that age. It all changes and what you do now won’t necessarily have any bearing on what works later.

The first few weeks are all about survival.
