Wet nappies

Hi everyone,

I have booked an appointment to speak to the gp tomorrow but was wondering if anyone here experienced something similiar.

My 6 month LO (will be 7 months in one week) is having the same amount of formula. Around 24oz.

We can't seem to pass this. We started solids and after solids I give a little water.

Last two days I have noticed how light her nappies are. Normally they are quiet heavy. I find myself literally looking closely to see if she has peed.

Today she has done number 2 twice and 3 wet nappies but not as wet as before.

Is this something to worry about. Nappies are wet it's just that before they were quiet wet and I'm not sure as she is having the same amount of intake (formula)

Anyone experience this with their LO?

Thanks

Yes. My little one was always like this is hot weather. I upped his fluid intake and everything went back to normal. I think when it's hot the body retains more water perhaps but yes offer baby more fluid. My little one is on 6oz every 3 hours and when its belting like it is today I offer an oz of cool boiled water inbetween. Two doctors told me to do this. X

Hi Laylor,

Thank you so much for your reply!!

I tried offering more this evening and she took a little more and will offer the oz in between aswell. I have been giving sips of water but that doesnt seem to be enough. She prefers water over formula.

Can I ask - how about night time? Shall I give her some water during the night. Her last feed will be around 11 and her morning feed is at 7

Thank you in advance x

I dont do water in the night so dont want to give you duff information but I dont see why not. Depends if you want to wake baby up. He tends to have a massive feed in the morning though. When the weather is like this I take a bottle out with me with a couple of oz in and just give it as and when.

If she wakes up in the night I'd offer milk first and water as a top up or perhaps try squeezing a little bit more formula down her at 11 feed if you can.

I definitely think it's the weather for sure if shes anything like my boy however he hates water so it's a struggle. The doctor actually told us to offer 3oz at a time but I noticed he wasnt drinking his full bottle. I'd defo aim for 2oz as shes double my babies age and take it from there. Even just a mouthful here and there. If shes up and about water, changing her bum water, woke up from nap water Smile

I hate this hot weather. I was a worshipper before but struggled last july when I found I was expecting and just dont enjoy it the same.

Hope you manage to get more were nappies Flowers

As well as offering water don't forget water rich foods too OP - things like cucumber sticks or melon that are refreshing and easy for little ones to eat. You could make some fruity ice lollies too.

It's worth trying different cups too if you haven't already - sometimes it's the cup they struggle with rather than the water.

Thank you soo much to both!

Laylor I will definetly try and get her to drink a bit more with last feed 💪 I will see if she wakes up and will try formula before water. Thing is first thing in the morning she will still take 3/4oz which sucks!

Burgerandchipvan thanks for the idea. I was mixing fruit with yoghurt but maybe I should give it on its own! Or even offer it as snack in between feeds.

Thank you so much!
