Can I ask when/how quickly your baby walked?

Hey!
I know this is different for every baby - that’s but my 13 month old seems to be getting more confident on her feet and I’m very excited thinking walking could start soon!
It’s odd because she had zero interest in being on her feet, she wouldn’t even pull herself up until 3 weeks ago for the first time!!! Now she’s constantly pulling up and starting to cruise and it seems to have happened all very quickly. I wondered if anyone elses baby followed a similar pattern? I assumed since she pulled herself up so late she would be a really late walker (which could still be the case) but she seems to be really getting stronger every day!
Please share your experiences with me I’d love to hear them!

My son was pulling up from 9 months and cruising relatively soon after and walked independently at just turned 13month. However, at 20 months he’s got very little interest in talking. He is a champion climber though and has amazing fine motor skills. They all just develop different skills at different rates. Anecdotally, my friend’s children who were the late walkers were the earlier, more articulate talkers and the more physical ones have been slower to talk.

DD a week before she turned one, DS1 16months, DS2 13months.

Windyatthebeach · 19/05/2020 10:23

Earliest was 9 months. Latest was 13 months.
Oddly ds who walked at 9 months has a ds who walked at 7 months. He wasn't a baby for long!! Crawled at 5 months. Seen nothing like it!!
It was a sign - he is a buggar!!

I was 9 months old apparently, but my DS started confidently walking about 14-15 months.

My DD was a proficient crawler. She was extremely fast and because of that I didn't think she would walk particularly early - she showed zero interest in it. She would bomb around the house holding on to her little trolley. And then suddenly two weeks after her first birthday she walked. And gave up crawling straightaway. She now runs everywhere (20mo)

Dd walked at 13 months unaided. Ds1 was also 13 months walking unaided. Ds2 walked unaided at 9 1/2 months and was running by 11 months. All kids are different. Same applies to talking dd was saying 3 clear words by 5 months. Ds1 3 clear words by 9 months and ds2 3 clear words took 10 months. He did say Mum as first word though. Grin

DD showed no interest in walking really then turned 14mo and decided to take a step and within a couple of days was properly walking! So it can happen very suddenly, in my experience.

In fact, the toddler from our antenatal class who had been the first to crawl and has been showing signs of being interested in walking for months was actually the last to walk!

Panda368 · 19/05/2020 13:26

Commando crawled at 5months.
Didnt sit until 8.5 months

Walked by himself at 11.5 months

18 months now sprints everywhere/climbs everything.

I wish he'd been a bit more stationary but he has no fear.

DS1 walked at 14 months to the day (crawled from 9.5m). DS2 had a big brother to fetch everything he needed to him Grin so despite hitting every other milestone early, he didn't need to bother walking until 17m old! He'd spent months cruising round the furniture etc. beforehand, so he did go from walking to running faster than me in about a week... Grin

DN walked at 14 months. Another DN walked at 16 months. My premie nephews both started to crawl at 4 months actual age and were walking by 9 months. On husband’s side one DN walked at 10 months and the other at 12. This was actual walking not cruising - the ones who walked earlier seemed to skip the cruising stage!

Mintjulia · 19/05/2020 15:38

7 months. He climbed an entire flight of stairs at 11 months and was making regular bids for freedom by 1 year. Grin

But he didn’t speak until 25 months so I guess it evens out.

DramaAlpaca · 19/05/2020 15:46

My three boys all crawled at 8 months, then walked at 10 months, 11 months and 12 months.

DS2 was the 10 month walker, he just pulled himself up one day, let go and walked a few steps towards me. He could climb, too. It was very cute but you couldn't take your eye off him for a second or he'd be somewhere he shouldn't. Exhausting, he was.

I've got two DS', the first one took AGES, crawled around 10 months but didn't cruise until about 14 months, first few steps at 17 months but didn't finally stop crawling until he was nearly 19 months. It was a slow burner!

My second DS crawled the same age but started pulling to stand around 12 months, cruising and took his first steps at 13 months. He was walking fully only a couple of weeks later! Now he walks so well (14.5 months).

Reader1984 · 19/05/2020 20:17

Crawling at 11 months, walking at 14 months.

Chillipeanuts · 19/05/2020 20:20

First, 13 months after rolling everywhere. Second, 9 months (climbed things too 😱)

Selfsettling3 · 19/05/2020 21:48

DD1 11 months a DD2 took her first independent steps the day she turned 9 months but four weeks later she has only done it again on a few occasions.

Buddywoo · 19/05/2020 21:54

First daughter walked at 15 months and the second was walking across the room at 9 months.

Corcra · 19/05/2020 22:19

Dd1 walked at 8months, out of the blue, right across a room 🙈 the stress of following her around.
Dd2 was closer to 13 months and she was so much stronger and still happy to crawl sometimes, it was easier!!

2beautifulbabs · 20/05/2020 00:01

My DS was 13 months old when he started walking on his own.

My DD was 11 months old when she started walking on her own.
