Stair gates

Can anyone recommend the best stair gate for wide fitting door/stairs, which is easy to open/close?
And we have quite large gaps between the wood spindles on the landing, anyone have this issue and what did you do to cover it?

We have a cuggl extending one as we have a larger than usual gap between the wall and last banister of the stairs (the only place to attach it). It's also an unequal shape (think like a vase) and its worked perfectly.
