Hi!

Next week my son is due his 8 week vaccines. I spoke to the HV about this and she said sometimes babies get a bit ill afterwards as the rotavirus vaccine is live.

How ill did your baby get? And how did you make it better, or make them more comfortable? Im scared of having a sick and unhappy baby afterwards

I was warned my baby would have a fever when he had his 4 weeks ago and he was absolutely fine. Get yourself some infant calpol and give him 2.5ml as soon as you possibly can. The doctor will give you some information on this. The sheet I got explained to give baby 2.5ml straight away and then two more doses 4-6 hours after. He was a bit grumpy and quite sore on his legs but he didnt get a fever.

Hope your baby will be okay Flowers

Dd was absolutely fine after. Bit grizzly, but no temp and nothing else really. Slept bloody well that night as well!

I bf her whilst they did the injections and she barely noticed, so if you’re bf that really helps.

And it's the meningitis jab that causes the fever. I haven't heard anything about to rotavirus making baby ill. They squirt it in their mouth, my boy loved it.

Not sure if you are from the UK but the NHS website gives loads of info on in. X

Rotavirus can give dodgy nappies. MenB can cause fever and 3 separate doses of paracetamol are recommended afterwards.
