Epic disaster.

I went upstairs to get in the bath. Three year old followed me up and cuddled in bed with husband.

Fifteen minutes later they go down and the grill is on fire. Ceiling is black. Cooker ruined.

Three year old must have turned it on before coming up.

I feel like a shit, negligent parent. Plus husband no longer has a job due to CV so it's ab extra annoyance.

My whole house smells. I think we were 5 minutes away from the ceiling catching fire

These things happen OP, don’t beat yourself

How did he reach the grill?

@nuked1981

I was wondering how he reached the grill tbh.

Do you have an electric or gas oven? My son used to wonder into the kitchen all the time and switch on the dishwasher and the washing machine. We ended up having to turn them off at the mains plug after every use so he couldn't do it. Could you do that with the oven? DP found it very annoying but they do grow out of it once the novelty wears off. They do it because they see you doing it and they want to copy you. You're not a bad parent, you can't have eyes everywhere at the same time.

He got the hoover out, pushed it into the kitchen and stood on it. I feel really crap.

He was only downstairs for a minute or so before he followed me up
