Hi is anyone else experiencing toilet training regression during lockdown, my 3 year old almost had the hang of it before lockdown but it’s like she’s lost interest she started just by telling me she had already had a wee in her pants then Just not telling me at all, and I have a struggle to change her as she hates it, I’m at my wits end, I’ve tried ignoring it so she doesn’t feel pressure, reward charts new toilet seat nothing seems to work, she’s an only child so has no one to learn from now she’s not at nursery, help!

I'm having the same with DS who is also 3.
At home we are encouraging the potty/toilet use as normal. If we are going out for our exercise or to buy food I will shove him in a pullup in case.
I'm hoping once lockdown lifts and he's back at nursery it will put him back on track.

It must be a really strange and scary time for them too. I'm trying not to let it be too much of an issue at the moment.

Early on, DD had a handful of wee accidents but thankfully that has settled.

The issue we're having is that DD has reverted to wanting to only poo in her nighttime nappy whereas we were at the point she was pooing perfectly happily in the toilet and we were nearly at the point where I was going to do away with the night time nappies full stop.

I think their little worlds have been turned upside down and they are taking control of what they can so I've decided not to push it for now.

Thanks at least I know I’m not alone! We are tried everything I’m now having a week of just letting her do what she likes without pressure, then will try again from the beginning next week, I think it will only resolve itself when she’s back at nursery ☹️

Have you ruled out uti and constipation?

Oh she’s going fine, there’s no issue there, plus she still has a wee on the toilet before bath time! She just doesn’t want to in the day.

Not sure what method you use but have you tried going back to bare below the waist for a bit?

Ds is 2.5. We started potty training in February. We’re still on it.

He’s happy to pee on the toilet but will not poo. He does tell me when he’s done a poo though. But. Oh it’s infuriating.

We did when the weather was good she just did a wee outside while stood up and carried on playing!
