Till what age will children like car beds?

Hi Everyone!

So, DS (4.5 years) had a toddler bed until last year and then we moved him to our guest bed (single bed) which is pretty old. He is massively into cars, so I was thinking of buying him a car bed. I have seen a few single bed sized car beds online that look good and are reasonably priced. As it’ll be a single bed he can potentially sleep on it until he is 11-12 years old. But not sure how long he will want to sleep on it. At what age will he start thinking it’s not cool anymore? Does anyone have DCs who slept on car beds until 9/10 years old or longer? Just wondering if I buy one now, how many years can I get out of it.

Thanks in advance

I'd say about 8-9 years old. Definitely not as old as 11-12.

About 9 years we got rid of ours, he begged for a year before hand for a proper bed. I think they’re a bit of a waste of money. With my daughter we just bought her a proper bed straight after her cot and she was fine.

You may only have a few years. I'd just buy a new mattress if the one on the guest bed is over 10 years old, and a car quilt cover instead.

About age 7 I reckon. Definitely not 9/10.

I would get a bed that has smooth panels in a neutral colour like grey, black or white (or even a bright but plain colour like red or blue) and get some wall/window stickers of cars to go on it. He'll think it's amazing now and when he gets too big for it, you can peel them off.

Maybe 7- tops. I have an 8 year old and he would not think that was cool anymore. I'd get a normal bed with car bedding that you can easily change.

My 6 year old would still like a car bed. 8 year old not so much.

Thanks everyone! Yes that's my worry that he wouldn't like it in 3 years time and in that case it's not going to be a worthwhile buy. @bertiebotts thanks - very good idea about getting some car stickers...that way I can peel them off when he gets bored and putting the stickers on can be a fun activity to do together too...I’ll have a look.
@Quixoticquokka another good idea about getting a car quilt cover thanks...may be I can do the stickers and car themed bedspread and quilt cover...I'll have a think..
Any other types of bed suggestions? What about mid sleepers? Are they safe? Again how long will children like them?

The Ikea Kura is a great one for a mid sleeper, same size as a standard single. You could defo decorate the panels too!

Thanks @bertiebotts I will check it out!
