Talking about revision for the exam and ths is one person's revision plan

"I'm going through it in a painstakingly slow manner. For each term or point that is made in the study guide I write myself a card with a question on the front and answer on the back. I have about sixty cards so far and am adding to them at a rate of ten per day. I go through the whole lot every day and write down the answers to each question so as to make sure it all sinks in. I'm now writing about 3-4 sides of A4 before the start of each study session just going over old stuff. It is sinking in slowly but its very tedious going over the same stuff each day! I should finish the Sikhism book by the end of next week (if I do 90 mins a day) and from then on I will concentrate on doing essay plans for each of the questions in the specimen paper and last years paper. I will then start making cards on material culture and authority and will do the same- go through them day by day until it all sinks in."

Oh dear me!! How many cards is he going to have before the exam?

Bet he doesn't have a full time job and three children

LOL

I don't like the subject forums (fora?). Everyone is always ahead of schedule, and I am so far behind. And they moan a lot

JackieNo · 18/09/2007 18:12

Some people have altogether too much time on their hands.

ShinyHappyPeopleHoldingHands · 18/09/2007 18:12

I fucking hate the smug bastards on the OU forums who talk this kind of shit!

If we had time to do this WHY would be doing it the OU way??!

He'll probably flunk anyway.............

Fret not angel... lots of us have lives as well as OU and aren't always up to date never mind ahead! lol

Most of the people on the SD805 forum last year were ok and there were only a couple of smug bastards - mind you they were the most prolific posters

MarsLady · 18/09/2007 20:34

Well I'm really pleased with and proud of you lilibet! You ignore those people.

On the OU chat room that I use there is one woman who constantly asks for everyone else's notes and then submits her TMA a week or two early and whenever she's asked for notes she's conveniently destroyed them!

You just do what you're doing. You'll get a fantastic pass because you've put the work in and not shown off on the first class.

Bon chance............. (I just did an online French tutorial and I swear I answered the questions by pure fluke!)

prettypurpledaisy · 19/09/2007 15:22

I read the same one lilibet and felt very inadequate with the revision I am doing! Got study day on Saturday at Croydon so hopefully this will help bring it all together. Do you want the notes as we are doing the same course?

lilibet · 19/09/2007 18:26

PLease!

I have some quite good notes on Authority I could photocopy and send to you

I am the one who posted the Sikhism Revision questions on the site

No problems, will try and get extra copies of any handouts and type up my notes for you. Let you know over the weekend how helpful it was. Can't stop making another 3,000 cards before bedtime, will be three pages into course book by bedtime tonight I hope!!!!!!

lilibet · 20/09/2007 08:21

I went on the exam revision course a few weeknds ago and it was useless.

More down to the woman who was running the course than the content. she didn't seem to be able to 'reign people in' and get us back onto the subject.

It was 2 1/2 hours long and half way through we hadn't even got past introducing oursleves!!

Thank goodness, normal OU students who can't stand the subject forums. I'm doing Maths and, believe me, every time I look on one of the forums it's like reading double dutch and I suddenly feel completely inadequate.
And on the subject of revision (for next Thursday!!!),my revisiov timetable looks something like this:-
Last Friday - meant to revise all evening because dh was out but he stayed in and I ended up watching the rugby with a few glasses of a very cheeky red!
Today - meant to revise while ds2 had his big sleep. Oh dear, his sleep was very little!!
Luckily I'm good under pressure so hopefully it will all come together in the end!!!
