Baby fighting sleep at 11 months?

My son is one next month. He normally is grand going into his cot for naps/night sleep etc but the last few weeks he is really fighting going into it and going to sleep, he’s overtired by the time he gives in. We leave him to cry (not too an extreme point, I’d say 5 minutes at the most) but we don’t lift him out, it’s constantly lying him back down and eventually he’ll go to sleep. Is this normal? I don’t understand why he’s went from going down fine to having a melt down, especially when he’s exhausted!

I guess his routine has been a bit disturbed by coronavirus? Maybe less activity/stimulation during the day to make him feel tired? Could he be teething? Other than that I've got no suggestions sorry. Certainly I think you're right not to just pick him up every time, he's old enough now to be doing that for attention if you make it into a habit.
