Baby sleeping in Bugaboo carrycot

My newborn sleeps in his Bugaboo carrycot (attached to the pram) next to me during the day. It’s handy as I can easily wheel him into whichever room I’m in, especially as I’m recovering from an EMCS so am trying to avoid heavy lifting. At night he goes into a cot next to my bed.

I know that newborns are meant to sleep on a flat surface and noticed the Bugaboo is ever so slightly sloped. Is it safe for him to sleep in it or should I buy a Moses basket for daytime?

It's absolutely fine, try not to worry.

They do advise the pram part not to be used for long periods of time. I think it's mainly there to stop people letting their babies sleep overnight in them.

We have a bugaboo donkey, and it’s not ventilated, so not recommended for naps really. We got a wee travel cot and mattress for downstairs for sleeps during the day - only about £30 with a proper mattress. I just wouldn’t take the risk.

I have the Bugaboo Bee 5 if that makes any difference. Baby seems very contented in it but I don’t want him to be unsafe!

DD is 20 weeks and we used the carrycot part of our bugaboo Fox for her to nap in during the day/evening from birth until last week.
We only stopped because when you change from the carry cot to the pushchair seat, you have to use the frame, so can't have both in use. So she now naps on us or on her mat on the floor during the day and in her cot in the evening (we have the monitor set up in her nursery and she comes through to the next to me in our room at 11pm)

@PowerStruggle thanks. I should probably know this, but what’s the issue with ventilation exactly?

Sounds fine to me. My DD naps in the carry cot from the pram during the day too. Mine is not approved for overnight sleeping without a different mattress (presumably to do with ventilation) but it's fine for naps when baby is supervised.

Sleeping on a flat surface means sleeping in a pram/cot/moses basket etc rather than sleeping scrunched up in a car seat or similar. A slight incline so that the head end is a little higher than the foot end is absolutely fine.

Thanks Peaceful - that is reassuring!
