Two week old baby hasn’t pooed for 48 hours

DS is just over two weeks old and is formula fed on around 540mls a day. The last time he did a poo was 48 hours ago and it was a huge one - it just kept on coming! It was runny and yellow-coloured, which the midwife said is normal.

He seems fine in himself - he’s sleeping and feeding well and isn’t cranky. He’s also passing gas and has about six wet nappies a day. But I’m so worried that he hasn’t done a poo in two days. What are your thoughts?

Hmm my son would sometimes go 5 days at that point so I wouldn't personally worry at this point!

Have a look at the section on here about how often. www.nhs.uk/conditions/pregnancy-and-baby/nappies/

Although saying that my dd was ff and would go days without! Poo isn't an exact science!

As long as he's happy, producing enough wet nappies, and he's getting the recommended 2.5 floz per pound in weight in 24 hours, I wouldn't worry Smile

He’s just produced a massive poo so all is well!

Try not to worry OP, my daughter managed to not go for 10 days when she was 3 weeks old. The Health visitor and GP weren't bothered as she was having wet nappies. If I remember correctly they said they'd intervene after 12 days.
