Love letting my little one crawl around picking daisy's etc ... Often DD puts things in her mouth (nothing poisonous or unsupervised)
I know they are supposed to be exposed to down germs etc but can only find info on this for toddlers.
How much is too much? To example she likes to dig around in the gravel path and occasionally taste a stone 😂
Again not unsupervised!!

Good question and I'd like to know the answer myself Smile
Ds is 10 months and is an absolute terror putting things in his mouth. This week he picked up a stick, put it into his mouth and then turned around to look at me before taking a bit of it Blush

No idea but I remember taking dd under 1 abroad - crawling all over campsites and taking turns with dh holding her under the outdoor tap to rinse her off!! Absolutely feral!!
She is a very healthy 14 year old now!

I don't have the backed up by evidence answer but just from personal experience... As soon as my son was crawling I let him put anything in his mouth (unless it was visibly dirty with poo/snail slime that kind of thing). He's now 2.5 and honestly is never sick. He's had about 3 colds his whole life and has got over them in one day!

Oh my daughter is the same. She is 1 next week and will eat grass, leaves, soil.. Whatever she can get! And she is so quick! If my back is turned for a minute she's heading for my plant pot in the living room. The soil must be delicious 😂😂

My DS was like this. Occasionally I got fed up and gave him his dummy so he didn’t put absolutely everything in his mouth every five seconds. I was more worried about pebbles as a chocking hazard rather than being germ phobic, I don’t think it can really do any harm.
There was a poster not long ago saying she felt jealous of others because she didn’t have a garden to ‘chill’ in with her near one year old. I told her she definitely wasn’t missing out on ‘chill’ time if her DC is crawling and able to put things in their mouth.

We will all eat a peck of dirt before we die was what my gran used to say. Just make sure there is no weedkiller on the lawn.
