14-week old still crying all day?

Hi ladies,

I have almost 14-week old twins, non-ID boys. Since birth, one of my twins has been a screamer - it’s always been extra noticeable as his brother has only really cried when he needs something.

I tried all the colic remedies, nothing made much of a difference to be honest. I just kept clinging on to people telling me that newborns grow out of it at 3 months.

However, if anything over the past week it’s getting worse. During his ‘awake time’ he’s maybe lasting 45 mins before crying; I can sometimes settle him a little but he is just so unhappy. He had been getting good with his naps (a good 1.5-2 hours 3 times a day) but this week he wakes less than an hour in to them crying, even when in the pram which usually knocks him out!

I’m just becoming so exhausted by it and can’t figure out what to do. Of course I’ve turned to Dr Google who is making me think maybe teething or even a milk allergy? But as a FTM in the middle of lockdown I’m at a loss.

Has anyone else experienced anything similar? I just want to be able to enjoy them when they’re awake instead of being on tenterhooks waiting for the meltdown!

I've just replied on another thread about crying. I've had a crier and you have my sympathy.

How is he apart from the crying? Is he bright and happy at times? Is he meeting his milestones and growing?

@JiltedJohnsJulie Fine! He was small born and lost a lot of birth weight but since he regained it he’s been doing great and even went up a centile. He sleeps well at night, no bother there at all. He’s a very smiley happy chap until the screaming kicks in!!

My DD was a crier. She just gradually grew out of it. She had some medical investigation and no cause was identified. She's still very intense /'spirited' as a toddler but obviously doesn't cry all day long. Like your child she was mostly a pretty decent sleeper at night too even from s very young age. We thought she knackered herself out from all the daytime screaming! Especially as unlike yours she was a terrible napper til she was 8 months old. Actually she started to get happier around the time she started to nap better so I'm sure that had something to do with it too.
