Baby only wants milk from 1 boob

I have a 5 week old baby who has been breastfeeding fine on both breasts until the past couple of days. She is now only feeding on the right breast and will only feed off the left one for about a minute before giving up.

The left one definitely doesn't produce as much milk as the right and I'm guessing this is the problem.

Is advice just to pump the left one until it produces more milk? Any other advice? I always offer left one first too

It’s common to favour one side I think. Have you tried a different hold, underarm, so she is still lying the same way but slide over to the other side?

I hadn't thought of trying a different position! Thank you, will give that a go!

It is very common but can be a bad thing and lead to mastitis if you dont empty the unfavoured breast. You should pump off a little before feeding in order to make it easier to latch, and always offer that breast first until your litttle one has got over this

I breastfed my son for 8 months, over that time, he always favoured the left breast and got most of his milk from there. I always offered the right to prevent it from becoming engorged. A lot of babies have a preference for one, the main downside being I walked around with two totally different sized breasts for 8 months 😂
